Admission Requirements at RRU

Undergraduate Programs: 

  1. Academic Requirements: Applicants must provide official transcripts and academic records from their secondary school or post-secondary institution, depending on their level of education. Transcripts should be in English or accompanied by an official English translation and sent to RRU for evaluation by WES or ICES services. International students may need to meet the minimum GPA requirement for admission which may vary depending on the program.
  2. English Language Proficiency: Since English is the language of instruction at Laurentian University, international students whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted language proficiency tests include the TOEFL (iBT-88 overall), IELTS (6.5 overall), or PTE-A (60).
    • Students who do not meet the English language requirements can enter the English Proficiency Programs.
  3. Supporting Documents: International students may be required to provide additional supporting documents depending on their program of choice, such as a personal statement, portfolios, work experience, letters of recommendation, or a resume/CV. These documents can help provide a comprehensive overview of the applicant’s qualifications and experiences.

Graduate Programs:

    • Some programs have higher English language proficiency requirements (see exceptions below):
    • Master of Arts in Professional Communication: TOEFL (iBT-100 overall), IELTS (7.0 overall), or PTE-A (68)
    • Doctor of Social Science: TOEFL (iBT-100 overall), IELTS (7.0 overall), or PTE-A (68)
    • Doctor of Business Administration Programs: TOEFL (iBT-100 overall), IELTS (7.0 overall), or PTE-A (68)
  1. Supporting Documents: International students may be required to provide additional supporting documents depending on their program of choice, such as a personal statement, portfolios, work experience, letters of recommendation, or a resume/CV. Tuition, Fees, and Refund Policy

Tuition:  

  1. Undergraduate Program Tuition: Approximately $23,000.00 CAD per year or $765 CAD per credit
  2. Graduate Program Tuition:
    • Tuition costs for Graduate Certificate Degree Programs: Approximately $9000 CAD – $12000 CAD for the whole program
    • Tuition costs for Graduate Diploma Degree Programs: Approximately $18000 CAD – $21000 CAD for the whole program
    • Tuition costs for Master Degree Programs: Approximately$35000 CAD – $56000 CAD for the whole program
      • Eg. Master of Business Administration Tuition: $56,387 CAD
      • Eg. Master of Arts in Global Leadership Tuition: $38,405 CAD
    • Tuition costs for PhD/Doctorate Degree Programs: $89,464 CAD for the whole program
  3. English For Academic Purposes Tuition: $5,400 CAD per level
  4. University Academic Preparation Tuition: $4,500 CAD
  5. Tuition Deposit: All international students are obliged to submit a deposit of $5000 CAD to secure their enrollment at RRU.

Fees: 

  1. Application fee: $134.01 CAD
  2. International Credential Evaluation fee: $134.01 CAD
  3. Student Services fee – per graduate program: $301.81 CAD
  4. Student Services fee – per undergraduate program: $231.99 CAD
  5. Learning Support Services fee – annual rate: $280.28 CAD
  6. U-Pass (Universal Bus Pass): $21.25 CAD Monthly

Refund Policy: 

Refunds for tuition will be provided according to the guidelines specified below.

  • For courses that have not yet commenced, a full refund of the tuition fees will be issued, with the exception of a minimum account retention fee of $550.
  • If students have their study permit application denied and officially withdraw before completing 15% of the first credit or academic course in the program, they will be eligible for a full refund of their tuition deposit, with a minimum account retention fee of $550.
  • In the case where students receive a denied study permit and withdraw between 15% and 50% completion of the term, they will receive a 50% refund of the tuition fees for that term, with a minimum account retention fee of $550.

Deadlines

RRU programs have application and start dates that differ. There are 3 intakes annually in September (Fall term), January (Winter term), and May (Summer term). Application deadlines are typically 3.5 months prior to the program start dates.

  2. Nixon and Malcolmson Residences: Nixon Residence offers apartment-style living with single bedrooms within shared units, similar to Millward Residence.   3. Dunsmuir Lodge: Dunsmuir Lodge is a distinctive residential option at RRU. It offers fully furnished rooms in a historic setting amidst the beautiful Hatley Park National Historic Site. Dunsmuir Lodge provides a serene and secluded living environment with amenities such as lounges, a shared kitchen, and laundry facilities.
  4. Centennial and Navy Buildings: Centennial Building and Navy Building are two additional residential options at RRU.
