Medical University of Szeged, ranks 500th globally among the and holds international acclaim with the name of Professor Albert Szent-Györgyi. It is one of the largest universities in Hungary, with approximately 25,000 students, 7,000 staff members, and around 2,300 faculty members.

History of the Medical University of Szeged

The Albert Szent-Györgyi University in Hungary, also known as the University of Medicine Szeged, was founded in the year 1581 in Cluj (Kolozsvár).

In 1872, the Royal University of Hungary was established, and it was later merged with the University of Szeged. The year 2000 was a turning point for the University of Szeged, as various higher education institutions were integrated with it.

One of the most famous scientists associated with this university is Albert Szent-Györgyi, who extracted vitamin C from paprika and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1937 while in Szeged.

Application for Admission to the Medical University of Szeged:

Conditions and necessary documents for admission to the University of Szeged, Hungary:

1. Original passport with a validity of more than one and a half years.
2. Two sets of copies of all passport pages.
3. Translation of the birth certificate with notarization and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs authentication.
4. Translation of the latest educational certificates and transcripts with notarization and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs authentication (no grade below 10 is accepted).
5. Payment of a 200 Euro admission fee.

Language Proficiency Requirements at the Medical University of Szeged:

For the University of Medicine Szeged, you need English language proficiency at an advanced level or an IELTS score of 6.5 or a TOEFL score of 81.

As per the decision of the admission committee of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Szeged, students who have grades below 50% (10/20) in their final year of high school will not be admitted.
