History of the Medical University of Szeged
The Albert Szent-Györgyi University in Hungary, also known as the University of Medicine Szeged, was founded in the year 1581 in Cluj (Kolozsvár).
In 1872, the Royal University of Hungary was established, and it was later merged with the University of Szeged. The year 2000 was a turning point for the University of Szeged, as various higher education institutions were integrated with it.
One of the most famous scientists associated with this university is Albert Szent-Györgyi, who extracted vitamin C from paprika and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1937 while in Szeged.
